The University of Trier – Partner in the “Trier Model”

Close cooperation with Trier University forms the basis of the so-called Trier Model—a cooperation model between a state university and a church faculty that is unique in Germany.

The cooperation agreement between the two institutions has been in place for over 50 years and allows for joint projects, such as:

• joint degree programs and courses
• interdisciplinary research projects
• Cooperations with the Arye Maimon-Institute, the Center for Italian Studies (IZT) and the Chairs of Philosophy

This partnership combines state university education with ecclesiastical and theological depth—in research, teaching, and academic training.
