Anyone who wishes to interrupt their studies but remain enrolled at the Faculty of Theology in Trier must submit an application for leave of absence to the Rector by the start of the relevant semester at the latest.
Leave of absence can only be granted for valid reasons (illness, financial difficulties, preparation for an academic exam in a second degree program), but is only granted for one semester at a time.
The applicant will be notified via mail or e-mail. Proof of health insurance coverage and payment of social security contributions (student union fees) is required.
Semesters of leave do not count as semesters of study for the purposes of the examination regulations.

You must apply for withdrawing from your studies if
- you have passed the final examination in your chosen degree program,
- you intend to continue your studies at another university, or
- you are discontinuing your studies.
