• Ecclesiology: Analysis of the changing ecclesiastical landscape in Europe and worldwide; mission and calling of the Church; the Church as a place of faith transmission in post-secular contexts; ecclesiology from an ecumenical perspective; bilateral dialogues between the Catholic Church and Reformation churches
• Trinity theology: Attempts to answer classic questions of Trinity thinking in the 20th and 21st centuries; also in the context of Judaism and Islam
• Gotteslehre (Theology) throughout the centuries, also in light of other monotheistic religions; polemics, controversial theology, and interfaith dialogue in the Middle Ages, with a focus on the theology of Raimundus Lullus; contemporary developments in Catholic-Muslim dialogue
• Soteriology: Understanding salvation today; the doctrine of justification and soteriology in the Lutheran and Reformed contexts
